At Eden, we are dedicated to combating hunger and sustaining our ministries through robust agricultural initiatives. By cultivating high-quality crops and livestock, we not only ensure the continuous operation and expansion of Eden’s vital work but also provide employment opportunities for individuals in Zimbabwe, directly addressing the challenge of job scarcity.
Our Operations
Crop Farming
– Growing 80 hectares of soybeans, 42 hectares of maize, plus sugar beans and sunflowers.
– Implementing modern irrigation systems and crop rotation practices for sustainable yields.
Dairy Operations
– Small-scale and efficient dairy operation with quality hand milking and processing.
– With a nutritionist on board, we focus on proper nutrition, diverse diet and data driven care.
Poultry Production
– Comprehensive poultry operations providing eggs and meat for the children
at the village and for Eden Staff.
– Maintaining excellent biosecurity protocols and feed quality management.
Permaculture
– Sustainable vegetable, herb and fruit production including moringa,
ginger, and turmeric.
– Focus on meeting nutritional needs and providing herbs for the Clinic.
How Our Farm And The Agape Centre Work Together
Our integrated system ensures every product from our farm is strategically managed to
maximize nutrition, promote stewardship, and eliminate waste through careful planning
and distribution. All of this is organised at the Agape Centre.
Farm Production
Our farm manages the production and distribution of diverse food sources including approximately 350 chickens, 7300 eggs, 3000 liters of milk, 1500 kg of grain, 2000 kg of vegetables, and 350 kg of fruit per quarter. Every product is carefully tracked and delivered to Agape for strategic distribution planning.
Agape Process
Agape receives all farm products and creates personalized nutrition plans for each child’s unique dietary needs. Our nutritionist determines optimal portions for village families, manages distributions to young adults and other ministries to ensure faithful use.
Feeding Program
We provide nutritional assistance to vulnerable families and malnourished children from the surrounding communities. The program reaches desperate households, providing immediate food relief while empowering them for long term food security. This year, 14 families transitioned from dependency to self-sufficiency.
The Commercial Farming Vision
For over 20 years, God has faithfully enabled us to raise funds annually for farming, ensuring we can provide nutritious meals and meet essential needs.
About two years ago, the Lord began stirring our hearts about sustainability adding self-sustaining initiatives alongside our wonderful donor partnerships. We felt Him guiding us toward farming as the most practical step forward, and He’s brought amazing people alongside us who share this vision.
In 2024, we joyfully launched our first project! We celebrated our first commercial harvest and generated income. Though drought reduced our expected yields, by God’s incredible faithfulness, we had enough to provide all the nutrition needed plus wonderful surplus to sell.
We’re so excited to continue this vision and would love for you to join us! To protect against future droughts, we’re investing in center pivot irrigation systems. Earlier this year, we acquired our first center pivot, and we’re believing God will provide partners to help us expand from 130 hectares to over 500 hectares. What an adventure this will be – together!
